Our Riders Are Our Superheroes

Naples Equestrian Challenge

13th Annual Horse Show

April 6th and 7th, 2013

My Superhero is Riley!

Riley meets up with school classmate Annie.

 Our personal Batman, Missy!

Wendy has sidewalked with Riley since he was three years old.  His smiles were all for her Saturday morning.  He was glad to pair up with Pick A Spot too.

Annie demonstrating her skills.

NECs success relies on the generosity of its 400+ extraordinary and active volunteers.

They may look precious, but make no mistake, these kids truly are Superheroes.

Photography by Riley’s dad, John Buck:  For those of you who do not know, I am the “unofficial volunteer photographer” (or maybe official after how many years?!) for Naples Equestrian Challenge…. a program close to my heart and so beneficial to many, including my son (pictured). After taking 2831 photos this weekend (2 days) of amazing people (disabled and not.. although some “not” category tend to be more disabled than those who are clinically diagnosed! (me included!))… I ran across photo 980’ish… Riley, my son. The “theme” this year was superheroes. I titled this one “I think I hear something”… but I also like the quote from the movie which defines the many volunteers who do so much more than I and to those who teach us so much no matter what the challenge: “It’s not who we are underneath, but what we do that defines us.” -Rachel Dawes in Batman Begins.
