Imperial River with FWF

We were blessed yet again to have the wonderful not-for-profit Freedom Waters Foundation (FWF) include us in an outing on the Imperial River last weekend.

The day was perfect for us.  We shared out adventure with another Special Needs and family friends. The pontoon captained by Paul was easy to board with our children.  The volunteers Sandy and Joe were excited to be there for us.  The overcast day was actually perfect as our SN kid’s kept their eyes open and enjoyed the company as well as the breeze.  The dolphin’s played around us, wading birds were all on display. Riley found himself in the arms of the Executive Director herself, Debra. My youngest practiced his photography skills.

Captain Paul treated the large group to a wonderful luncheon in the dockside restaurant, Backwater Jack’s.  We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect Sunday.

It was perfect therapy for each of the family members. Being out there we each felt truly alive and excited to be out with others who understood us. I wish that Freedom Waters Foundation could find themselves growing into every waterside community throughout the country!  Perhaps there are readers out there who could help make that happen….
